MLA V Sreenivas Prasad said casteism is more dangerous than terrorism. He was speaking at the Loka Shanthigagi Nirantara Buddha Sandesha Yatre (a journey of Buddha’s messages for world peace) organised here on Sunday at the Vishwa Mytri Buddha Vihar.
Prasad said casteism and untouchability still exists in the society, and were growing at a fast pace. As a result, dalits are living under fear. Comparatively, casteism and untouchability have a greater impact on the nation, rather than corruption and black money. There is a need to weed out the same. The MLA said accepting Hindu religion is akin to embracing inequality. However, he said, there is no meaning for religious conversion until and unless there is a good cause. Dr B R Ambedkar accepted Buddhism to free his self from the religion he belonged to way back in 1956. Chamarajanagar MP R Dhruvanarayan said people would love to embrace the religion that promises equality and non-violence. Mysore: 'Sangeetha Namana’ to Buddha

'Buddhanige Belagana Sangeeta Namana', a 12-hour music programme will be held at Vishwa Maitri Buddha Vihara in the city on May 17 at 6 pm, in connection with Buddha Purnima.

Addressing a news conference here on Monday, H R Mahesh of Sangeeta Jangamara Samsthe said Buddha is the propagator of Manava Dharma and in  his memory, a novel programme is organised. Introducing history The purpose of this was to introduce the real history of Buddha to the people. Kalyanasiri Bhantheji will be present. Participants  Noted music director of Kannada, Hamsalekha, vice-chancellor of Music University, Dr Hanumanna Nayak Dore, Registrar of Music University, Prof Nilagiri M Talwar, deputy director of Department of Kannada and Culture, A Annegowda, Accounts Officer Venkataraju, Bhanandur Kempaiah, Laxman Hugar, noted folk singer, Bannur Kempamma, Mr Justice H Mohakumar will attend. After the inauguration, there will be 12-hour non-stop music programme from 7 pm to 7 am on Wednesday. Six main singers and nine co-singers will present the programme. Of 12 hours, four hours is dedicated to the songs on Buddha and eight hours to Folk songs, theatre songs, bhavageete and vachanas. Plans are afoot to hold 24-hour programme in the next Buddha Purnima. Girija Mahesh, Lakshmirao, B P Nagaraj, Govindaraswamy and Krishnamurthy Mandya were present.

ಡಾ. ಬಿ.ಆರ್. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಬುದ್ಧ ಜಯಂತಿ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಕಲಾವಿದ ಬಸವರಾಜ ಕಲೆಗಾರ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಬುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್‌ರಿಗೆ ನಮನ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಡಾ. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಜಯಂತಿ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿಯೇ ರಚಿಸಿರುವ ಈ ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿಗಳು ಜನರ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆದಿವೆ. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್‌ರ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರ, ಬುದ್ಧನ ಲೀಲಾಮೃತ, ಸಾವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದ ಬುದ್ಧ, ಬುದ್ಧನ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ, ಬುದ್ಧ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಯಾದೇವಿ, ಬುದ್ಧನ ಹೃದಯ ದೊಳಗೆ ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಹೀಗೆ ಹತ್ತಾರು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಂಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್‌ರ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರವು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಿಂದೆ ಬುದ್ಧನ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿದ್ದು, ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಡಾ. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್‌ರ ಎದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬುದ್ಧನು ತಪಸ್ಸುಗೈದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲೆ ಚಂದ್ರನಿದ್ದರೆ, ಗುಲಾಬಿ ಹೂವುಗಳು ಕಾಣುತ್ತವೆ. ಮೂರನೇ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದು ಬುದ್ಧನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಮಾನವನ ತಲೆಬುರುಡೆ, ಧ್ಯಾನ ಮಗ್ನನಾದ ಬುದ್ಧನನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರಿಕರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಬುದ್ಧನ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿ ಸುವ     ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲೆ ಯಾ ಕಾರದೊಳಗೆ ಬುದ್ಧ ನನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಅರಳಿದ ಹೂವುಗಳು, ನವಿಲಿನ ಚಿತ್ರ ಗಳಿವೆ. ತಾಯಿ ಮಾಯಾದೇವಿಯು ತನ್ನ ಮಗ ಬುದ್ಧನ ಯಶಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಆಲಿಸುವ ಕ್ಷಣ ವನ್ನು ಬಣ್ಣಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಬಿಡಿಸಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಹಲವಾರು ಕಲಾ ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆದಿರುವ ಬಸವರಾಜ ಕಲೆಗಾರ ಶಹಾಪುರ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಕೊಂಕಲ್‌ನವರು. ಇದೀಗ ಹಂಪಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅವರು, ವಿಶೇಷ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಹಸ್ತರು. ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗಷ್ಟೇ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ವಿಶ್ವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನ ದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯಾದಗಿರಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಾರುವ ಕಲಾಕೃತಿ ಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಕೊಡೆಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ

ಕೋಲಾರ: 2554ನೇ ಬುದ್ಧ ಜಯಂತಿ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಬುದ್ಧ ಜಯಂತ್ಯುತ್ಸವ ಸಮಿತಿಯು ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರುವಾರ ಬುದ್ಧನ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು. ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖರು, ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಬುದ್ಧನ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರವಿದ್ದ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಜ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಧರಿಸಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು. ನಗರದ ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಿಂದ ಶುರುವಾದ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ಬಾಲಕರ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಮೂಲಕ, ದೊಡ್ಡಪೇಟೆ ವೃತ್ತ, ಎಂ.ಜಿ. ರಸ್ತೆ ಮೂಲಕ ಕೆಇಬಿ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಗೊಂಡಿತು.ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಬುದ್ಧಂ ಶರಣ ಗಚ್ಛಾಮಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿದರು. ಈ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ಆಡಂಬರವಿಲ್ಲದೆ, ಸರಳರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ನಗರದ ಜನರ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯಿತು. ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯ ದಾರಿಯುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಜನ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆಯಿಂದ ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು. ಜನನಿಬಿಡ ಸ್ಥಳವಾದ ದೊಡ್ಡಪೇಟೆ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಿದ ಹಾಡುಗಳು ಇಂಪಾಗಿ ಕೇಳಿಬಂದವು. ಸಮತಾ ಸೈನಿಕ ದಳದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಎಂ.ವೆಂಕಟಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ಐಪಲ್ಲಿ ನಾರಾಯಣಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ಟಿ.ವಿಜಯಕುಮಾರ್, ಫಾಲ್ಗುಣ, ಮಂಜುನಾಥ, ಮುನಿವೆಂಕಟಪ್ಪ, ಜೆ.ಸತ್ಯರಾಜ್, ಬಾಂಸೆಫ್ ನಾರಾಯಣಪ್ಪ, ಬಂಗವಾದಿ ನಾರಾಯಣಪ್ಪ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಂತರ ಕೆಇಬಿ

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ 9ಕ್ಕೆ ಧ್ವಜಾರೋಹಣ, 9.30ಕ್ಕೆ ಬುದ್ಧ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಸಂಜೆ 4.30ಕ್ಕೆ ಸವಾಯಿ ಗಂಧರ್ವ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಪೂಜೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು. ನಂತರ ನೃತ್ಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ, ದೇಹದಾರ್ಢ್ಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರ ಸಮಾರಂಭ ಜರುಗಲಿದೆ. ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 300 ಮಂದಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದೇಹದಾರ್ಢ್ಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ವಿಜೇತರಿಗೆ ನಗದು ಬಹುಮಾನ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಉತ್ತಮ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಡಾ.ಬಿ.ಆರ್. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು. ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯು ಪದಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರ ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಸ್‌ಎಸ್‌ಎಲ್‌ಸಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮ ಅಂಕ ಪಡೆದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸನ್ಮಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.

Mangalore, May 17: The teachings of Gautama Buddha, who upheld the social justice and equality, are relevant even today, said Prof T C Shivashankar Murthy, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the 2555th holy birth anniversary of Buddha organised by Dakshina Kannada district Buddha Maha Sabha, at NGO Hall here on Tuesday afternoon.

Murthy said even though a man called Buddha lived and died over two and a half thousand years ago, his messages and teaches are universal and eternal.

Opining that the increasing gap between rich and poor will only lead the whole humanity to chaos, he pointed out that Buddha had called upon the affluent to think about poor. 

“The concept of ‘Buddha conscious’ can reduce the human greed,” he added. 

Veeryasheela Bhantheji, President of United Buddhist Organisation, Bangalore, in his inaugural address stated that Buddhism is not a merely religion, but a complete way of life, which leads people towards eternal bliss.

He pointed out that Buddhism is in the forefront in 28 countries of the world and extending its strength in many other countries, as a large number of people, including Indians are inclining towards it. 

S R Laxman, district president of the Sabha, presided over the programme. Dr. Uday Rao, Director of TTC insurance company and Kanthappa Alangar, Secretary were present among others.

ನಗರದ ಉಪ್ಪಾರಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಕೆ.ಬಿ.ಸಿದ್ದಯ್ಯರ ನಿವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧ ಪೂರ್ಣಿಮೆ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕವಿಗೋಷ್ಠಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧನ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಬದುಕಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯೇ ಬೌದ್ಧ ತಾತ್ವಿಕತೆಯ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣ. ಭಂತೆ ಮಿಲಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಗಸೇನನ ನಡುವಿನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಾವಳಿಯೇ ಇಡೀ ಮನುಜರ ಬದುಕನ್ನು ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೂ ಸರಳವಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಒಂದೇ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳುವುದಾದರೆ ಭ್ರಷ್ಟತೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿತು ನಡೆದರೆ ಅದೇ ಭೌದ್ದ ತಾತ್ವಿಕತೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಭೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ತತ್ವಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ಪರಂಪರೆಗಳ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ದಿಕ್ಕು ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವ ಹಲವಾರು ಮಂದಿ ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ನಡುವೆ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅನಾದಿ ಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಮೆಟ್ಟಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಮೊದಲು ನಾವು ಭೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಡಾ.ಬಿ.ಆರ್.ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ತಮ್ಮ 12 ವ್ಯಾಲೂಮ್‌ಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಜನರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುವಂತೆ ವಿವರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವಿವೇಕವೇ ಭೌದ್ಧ ತಾತ್ವಿಕತೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಟರಾಜ್ ಬೂದಾಳ್ ನುಡಿದರು.

ಕವಿಗೋಷ್ಠಿ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದ ಕವಯತ್ರಿ ಡಿ.ಬಿ.ರಜಿಯಾ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಭಗವಾನ್ ಬುದ್ಧ ಸಮಾಜವನ್ನು ಅರಿಯಲು ನಮಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ವಿವೇಕ ಎಂಬ ಅಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಇಂದು ಮಂಕು ಕವಿದಿದೆ.ಇದರಿಂದ ಹೊರಬರುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಅನ್ನಪೂರ್ಣ ವೆಂಕಟನಂಜಪ್ಪ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಹಣ, ಅಧಿಕಾರವೆಂಬ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳು ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಚಿಂತಕರು, ಪ್ರಗತಿಶೀಲರೆನಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಬುದ್ಧಿಜೀವಿಗಳು ಇಂದು ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಇರುವವರ ಬೆಂಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರೆ ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆತ್ಮಾವಲೋಕನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಧಿಕಾರದ ಆಸೆಗೆ ಭ್ರಷ್ಟತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವವರನ್ನೇ ಇಂದ್ರ, ಚಂದ್ರರೆಂದು ಬಸವಣ್ಣನಂತಹ ಕಾಂತ್ರಿಕಾರಿ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಯಾವ ಹಂತ ತಲುಪಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಅರ್ಥವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಲು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮುಂದಾಗಬೇಕಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಮಂಗಳೂರು, ಮೇ 17: ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಾರ್ವಕಾಲಿಕ ವಾದ ಸಂದೇಶ ನೀಡಿದ ಬುದ್ಧನ ಆದರ್ಶಗಳು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ ಜಾಗೃತಗೊಳ್ಳಲಿ ಎಂದು ಮಂಗಳೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಪ್ರೊ.ಟಿ.ಸಿ. ಶಿವಶಂಕರ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಅವರು ಇಂದು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಬೌದ್ಧ ಮಹಾಸಭಾ ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಇದರ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ನಗರದ ಎನ್‌ಜಿಓ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಮ್ಮಿ ಕೊಂಡ ಬುದ್ಧ ಜಯಂತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅತಿಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

ಈ ನಿಸರ್ಗದ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸೇರಿದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಬುದ್ಧ 2500 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಸಂದೇಶ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವಾರು ಮಂದಿ ಐಷಾರಾಮಿಯಾಗಿ ಬದುಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಮಂದಿ ಬಡತನದ ಬೇಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಅಸಮಾನತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೋಗಲಾಡಿಸಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಬುದ್ಧನ ಆದರ್ಶವಾದ, ಸಮಾನತೆ ಸಮಾಜದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಂತಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡು ಬರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಶಿವಶಂಕರ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಭಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ವೀರ್ಯಶೀಲ ಭಂತೇಜಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ ನಿಜವಾದ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಧರ್ಮವಲ್ಲ. ಒಂದು ಜೀವನ ಮಾರ್ಗ. ಮಾನವನ ಜೀವಿತ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒದಗಿ ಬರುವ ನಾನಾ ವಿಧವಾದ ದು:ಖಗಳನ್ನು ದೂರ ಮಾಡಲು ಪಂಚಶೀಲ, ಅಷ್ಟಾಂಗ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಗಿ ಸುಖ, ಶಾಂತಿ, ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವ ವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಇದು ಬೋಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಕಲ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಸುಖ, ಶಾಂತಿ, ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯನ್ನು ಬೌದ್ಧ ಧರ್ಮ ಬಯಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧ ವಂದನೆ, ದಮ್ಮೋಪದೇಶ, 207 ಕುಟುಂಬದ 775 ಜನರಿಗೆ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ ವಿಮಾ ಯೋಜನೆ ಪಾಲಿಸಿ, ಬಡ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ವಿತರಣೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಡೆಯಿತು.

GULBARGA: A large number of Dalits will embrace Buddhism here on Thursday to mark the 54th anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar embracing Buddhism at Nagpur in Maharashtra along with his followers.

Veteran Dalit leader Shivaram Moga told presspersons here on Tuesday that the International Bouddha Yuva Sanghatane and the Buddhist Society of India would jointly organise the fifth mass ‘Buddha Dhamma Deeksha' programme at the MSK Mill Grounds here on Thursday.

Mr. Moga said that October 14 was an important date in the annals of India as it was on this day that Ambedkar had embraced Buddhism in protest against the oppressive caste system that prevailed in the country.

Buddhism gave a new life to those who embraced it at the behest of Ambedkar. “This was also the day on which Buddhism was revived in the country in which it was born,” he said.

Achievement

The Buddhist Society of India and the International Bouddha Yuva Sanghatane have been celebrating the anniversary of Ambedkar embracing Buddhism in Gulbarga for four years. “So far, thousands of Dalits and oppressed sections of society have embraced Buddhism,” he said.

Adopt philosophy

Admitting that mere embracing of Buddhism would not bring about any qualitative change in the life of Dalits, he said that it was essential to adopt the philosophy and follow its tenets. Led by Bhante Bodhidhamma, founder president of the International Bouddha Sanghatane, a team of Buddhist monks from across the country will help the Dalits in the conversion process.

Inauguration

The programme will be inaugurated by Union Labour and Employment Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge. Dalit leaders, including Mogali Ganesh, D.S. Veeraiah, Mavalli Shankar and Vittal Doddamani, will participate, Mr. Mogasaid.

State conference of SEWA on Feb 27

Mangalore, February 21: State conference and the 8th tri-annual general body meeting of State Bank of India SC/ST Employees’ Welfare Association (SEWA) will be held at Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan, Miller's Road, Vasant Nagar, Bangalore on February 27.

Revealing the same, Lolaksha, Advisor of SEWA told mediapersons here on Monday that the conference would consolidate the voice against the problems faced by Dalits in the bank sectors.

He said the policy of discrimination against Dalit employees and ‘anti-Dalit attitude’ still exist in most of the banks. He urged the implementation of reservation while filling up major vacancies in the bank.

M Shivanna, Member, National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Government of India, will inaugurate the conference.

Dr Udithraj, IRS, Chairman, Karnataka State SC/ST Commission will be the chief guest.

Nehru Volekar, Chairman, Karnataka State SC/ST Commission, Dr CS Dwarakanath, Ex Chairman, Karnataka State SC/ST Commission, Dr L Hanumanthaiah, EX-MLC, G Shankar, Secretary General, National Federation of SBI SC/ST Employees , Purushothamadas, President, Canara Bank SC/ST Employees Welfare Association will be the main speaker.
