For peace: Mayor Ayub Khan (centre) and Deputy Mayor Kamala releasing pigeons to mark the Mahaparinirvana of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Mysore on Saturday. MYSORE: Homage was paid to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the occasion of his 52nd “Mahaparinirvana” here on Saturday. The district administration and the Mysore City Corporation led the city in paying tributes to Dr. Ambedkar.Mayor Ayub Khan, Deputy Mayor Kamala, Commissioner of Police Parashivamurthy, Mysore Zilla Panchayat President K. Marigowda, and other elected representatives gathered near the statue of Dr. Ambedkar and made floral offerings.Later, pigeons were released symbolising peace. The programme was jointly organised by the district administration, Mysore City Corporation and the zilla panchayat.Buddhist monks in the city chanted hymns and performed various rituals associated with their tradition.
