Mysore: 'Sangeetha Namana’ to Buddha

'Buddhanige Belagana Sangeeta Namana', a 12-hour music programme will be held at Vishwa Maitri Buddha Vihara in the city on May 17 at 6 pm, in connection with Buddha Purnima.

Addressing a news conference here on Monday, H R Mahesh of Sangeeta Jangamara Samsthe said Buddha is the propagator of Manava Dharma and in  his memory, a novel programme is organised.

Introducing history
The purpose of this was to introduce the real history of Buddha to the people. Kalyanasiri Bhantheji will be present.
Participants 
Noted music director of Kannada, Hamsalekha, vice-chancellor of Music University, Dr Hanumanna Nayak Dore, Registrar of Music University, Prof Nilagiri M Talwar, deputy director of Department of Kannada and Culture, A Annegowda, Accounts Officer Venkataraju, Bhanandur Kempaiah, Laxman Hugar, noted folk singer, Bannur Kempamma, Mr Justice H Mohakumar will attend.

After the inauguration, there will be 12-hour non-stop music programme from 7 pm to 7 am on Wednesday.

Six main singers and nine co-singers will present the programme. Of 12 hours, four hours is dedicated to the songs on Buddha and eight hours to Folk songs, theatre songs, bhavageete and vachanas. Plans are afoot to hold 24-hour programme in the next Buddha Purnima.
Girija Mahesh, Lakshmirao, B P Nagaraj, Govindaraswamy and Krishnamurthy Mandya were present.
